Ignacio Padilla presents Art and forget the earthquake Maya funerary rites

Art, no one would doubt the man has accompanied almost throughout its existence. From the ancient cave paintings to contemporary art, man has sought to leave a record of their travel the world and its vicissitudes. Even it has to register their bad times: wars, natural disasters, epidemics ... everything is a pretext to create. All, or cas: the 1985 earthquake in Mexico seems to be the exception. This is the thesis of the book Art and forget the earthquake, written by Ignacio Padilla and you just see the light thanks to the editorial Rafters.

is a test in which Padilla was awarded the Luis Cardoza y Aragón of Arts in 2008. In a telephone interview, Mexican writer argues that there is a debt of Mexican artists with the memory of the earthquake of September 19, 1985, because there was insufficient artistic production purpose of the disaster. About to commemorate 25 years of tremor, Ignacio Padilla says it is a good opportunity to revisit the issue, which passed over in 2000 when it took place on 20 anniversary.

"We need to look at art from outside the experience, we need artists as mediators to articulate sensible, timeless and unobservable, that setting is not the past but the present toward a future as "notes Ignacio Padilla at trial.
